Upcoming Sessions

Our next session is on Monday, December 12th at the Calvary Church on Franklin.

There is no session at the Anglican  Church on December 13th due to a church meeting.

We will be meeting at the Anglican Church on Tuesday, December 20th.

La Bastringue

We are starting a new dance next week. After working on two Eastern European circle dances we are heading home to Canada with a French Canadian couples dance: La Bastringue. Our next session is November 29th.

We will be holding 3 Malanka practice sessions in December and a January. Check our calendar for the dates. These sessions will review some of the popular dances that you see at Malanka, such as polkas,  waltzes, fox trots, schottishe, and the Kolomeyka. Drop ins are welcome!

Hutsulka and Alunelul

We had a good session tonight. We worked on Hutsulka and Alunelul. We will be working on those two dances again next week. Next session is November 22nd at 7:00 pm at the Anglican Church hall. See you there!

There is no dance session Tuesday, November 8th due to a church function.

A session will be held on Friday, November 11 at the Anglican Church basement from 7-9 p.m.

There is a new dance group in town!

Want to stay active and love to dance but feel like you are a bit too old to join a youth group?  Ever wanted to learn those fancy steps the folk dancers do, or brush up on “old time” dances like heel & toe polka, 7-step, or schottische? Would you like to celebrate your culture and that of others? Then drop by the Anglican Church Basement Tuesdays 7-9pm and check out the Yellowknife Elders Folk Dance Collective.  Membership is flexible but priority given to those over 50y.
